How to Create Content

When it comes to launching a website, content tends to be the biggest holdup. While we are available to help with the content for your site, your involvement in this process is crucial. Here’s how to help things go smoothly.

How to Create Content

START WITH SITE NAVIGATION

Site navigation is the foundation of every website, so we start all content creation strategies with an outline of your site. The outline items represent what will go on the menu for your new site. We typically recommend using a header menu, main menu, and footer menu. We will help you understand how these menus should be used and will generate an initial sitemap based on our first meeting with you. You can then edit the sitemap and send it back to us.

DIVIDE AND CONQUER

Creating or gathering content for your website can feel daunting, but a few processes can make it more manageable. Right
CHOOSE IMAGES

When finalizing the sitemap, take notes of what types of images should accompany your copy. We recommend that each page have at least one image or video. Make a list of what you need based on what will best communicate your brand to site visitors. If you don’t already have images, we can provide recommendations for local and remote photography/videographer services so you can create the perfect visual.

CREATE AN OUTLINE FOR EACH PAGE

Next, make an outline for each page that will need new copy. An outline or bullet point list should cover all important topics or search phrases that need to be used for the page. This will also help if you hire a professional copywriter, as they will need this information to write content for you.

HIRE HATCH TO CREATE COPY

If you’re having trouble creating copy, we are happy to provide a quote for copy services once the sitemap has been finalized. We’ll still need an outline or bullet point list of your content requirements, but this can greatly speed up development time.

CONTENT CAN DELAY A PROJECT

It takes a lot of work to create website content, and we see the best results when it is left to the professionals. Content is by far the most common holdup with our sites, because many clients are simply too busy with other responsibilities to prioritize content creation. Trust us to create the copy, and everything will go much more smoothly and quickly.
